I took this image from a silverpoint drawing I did a while ago. Its been interesting to see the difference in the limits of line quality that are possible with the etching needle as opposed to the silverpoint. I plan to make an edition of 75 prints from the plate. Here's the original image:

Drawing with Pen and Ink
Found a book that needs to be added to our collective library. "Drawing with Pen and Ink: and a word concerning the brush" by Arthur L. Guptill with an introduction by Franklin Booth. If you want to see some more of this book check out Mr. Doortree's blog. -tif

Comix Art Exhibition
The World Art Gallery in Costa Mesa is hosting an exhibit of comic book/magazine artists from August 2 to...? (the online community has apparently forgotten to post the end date). Anyway, the opening reception is August 2 from 6-10pm, it's free, there will be food, and most of all there will be drawings and comics from Jack Kirby! Robert Crumb, Charles Schultz, Griffin, Symons, Corben, Kane, Vess, MacFarlen, and Will Koffman. So we should go.
The address is 1980 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa 92627.

The Handle on Hands
In case anyone doesn't have copies of these... Hands! woo hoo!
Spline doctors- this sheet was drawn up to help find better poses for 3D animation....
Iron Giant model sheets
batman hands, not my most "favorite-est " but they show strong, simple lines of action, and I think they're good for graphic shape and first pass purposes.
